How do I book a car with Blue Star Car Rentals?

It’s really easy; the fastest and easiest way is to book online, or if you prefer send us an e-mail at or if you prefer to speak to a person give us a call on 021 222 8369

Will I receive an e-mail confirmation?

Yes, we try to make life a little easier and whatever option you choose to book with we will always send you a confirmation e-mail with the full costs and pick up details explained.

Lost and Found Property

f you have left an item behind, please phone or e-mail us at the first available opportunity. We will do everything we can to try and locate the item and get it returned to you ASAP.

What is your cancellation policy

(a) When a booking is canceled more than 7 days in advance of the booking a full refund of the value of the booking will be returned

(b) When a booking is canceled less than 7 days in advance of the booking the first days hire of the booking will be charged

(c) When a booking is canceled less than 1 day  in advance of the booking a the full hire cost will be  charged

Do I need to pay a deposit

We may charge you 20% at time of booking. This is fully refundable if you cancel within the terms and conditions listed above.

How many Kilometres can I travel?

There are no hidden fees when dealing with us, you have unlimited kms with all of our vehicles.

 

Do you offer one way rentals?

We only offer one way rentals within the Bay of Islands area.

Can I return my car early? Will I receive a refund?

If you decide to return the vehicle early we are unable to provide a refund for the unused portion of the hire. Please contact us with an updated return time so we can ensure a staff member is ready to receive your vehicle.

What if I return my car late?

As with anything not running to plan communication is key; let us know if you will be running late we will give you a 1 hour grace period. After the 1 hour has expired a full day’s rate will be charged.

Can I extend my rental?

Let us know at the first opportunity. We will do our very best to extend your rental, however in peak times we cannot guarantee this option is available.

How old do I need to be to drive an Blue Star Car?

Any driver over the age of 25 years may drive the vehicle as long as they comply with the terms and conditions of the contract; have a full valid driver’s licence, and a credit card.

Can anyone other than myself drive the Car?

Yes, however each driver must be included on the contract and have their drivers licence recorded/validated.  Any driver that is not listed will be considered outside of the terms and conditions and there will be no insurance protection.

Can I drive Blue Star Rentals car on the beach or off-road?

No definitely not.

What happens if my car breaks down?

All of our vehicles are covered 24/7 by AA Roadside Assist.  If you have any mechanical problems with the vehicle during your hire, call the AA on 0800 734 543 and quote the vehicle registration number.

Can you deliver my hire car to my motel/hotel/lodge?

Yes we can deliver your car to your motel in the Bay of Islands region for your convenience. Just contact us to arrange this once your booking has been confirmed.

Can I smoke in an your cars?

Sorry we do not allow smoking in any of our vehicles

What payment methods are accepted by Blue Star Car Rentals?

We accept Visa / Mastercard / EFTPOS and Cash

Am I able to bring my own baby seat or booster seat when I hire a car from you?

Yes, however your baby seat or booster seat must have one of the following approved standards: AU/NZ Standard, European Standard or the American Standard restraint that complies with New Zealand law is acceptable to use in New Zealand.

Do I have to pay an insurance excess?

The insurance excess is secured by an imprint of your credit card on the rental agreement.

Can I drop-off a vehicle after office hours?

Yes, please see the following images for the locations of key dropoff for Bay of Islands Airport. The keys need to be deposited in the key box shown on the bottom left picture , to the right of the hertz sign.

Am I allowed pets in my car?

Yes. But we would ask you to inform us in advance so we can discuss. A cleaning bond of $200 will be required.

Am I able to pay for my car booking with a debit card?

Yes, you can pay for the hire with a debit card. However, we still require a valid credit card to be held as security for the hire. 

Are your prices all inclusive?

Our prices are in New Zealand dollars (NZD) and include Goods and Services Tax (GST) at 15%, unlimited kilometres and standard third party and public liability cover.
