If you are flying into Kerikeri from somewhere in New Zealand like Auckland, Queenstown or Wellington, or from overseas, you will need a rental car to see the Bay of Islands conveniently. Pick up a great vehicle locally, with our range of rental cars and vans.

We offer flexible pick-up / Drop-off options from these locations:

– Bay of Islands Airport, Kerikeri, Paihia, Opua. Excludes Russell.

Our Kerikeri Airport pick-up and drop-off location is the same address as the airport – 218 Wiroa Road. Our cars will be parked in the rental car area of the airport, in bays 33, 34 and 35, ready for you to pick up on the day you land.

Since the airport is located close to State Highway 10, you can begin your road trip straight away, or take time to explore the town, visit some local spots, and plan your trip.

At the end of your trip, you can park the vehicle back in one of these parking spots, and deposit the keys in the key box next to the Hertz sign.

We can also deliver a car straight to your hotel, home, Airbnb or any other place of accommodation, if it is located within a reasonable distance of Kerikeri. Please get in touch with us once you have made a booking to let us know where you would like your vehicle dropped off to.

In this case, in the ‘Pick-up Location’ and ‘Drop-off Location’ fields in the form here, you may pick any option. Please note that if you don’t let us know regarding the delivery location once your booking is confirmed, we will assume that you are picking up your vehicle from the chosen location.

Please note we charge the total cost to your credit card the day before pickup. No deposit is taken.

Absolutely brilliant! I rented a little Honda Jazz and stupidly left it turned on at the motel so it ran flat. I rang Blue Star in the morning and they came to get me going again within 10 minutes of me calling. Very good service and fantastic easy people to work with. Thanks heaps. 🙂

We rented a car for 4 weeks and extended it to six weeks while we were getting ready to depart Opua for Fiji. The price was reasonable, the car worked great. It was a hybrid so it barely used any fuel. Would rent from them again in a heartbeat.

Fantastic customer service, delivered the car the night before we booked so we could be on the road early and picked up when we got back to Kerikeri. Only rental car company that ever that gave us a dry run as to the cars features and functions.

Thank G for Blue Star! I was born in the Bay of Islands and I usually drive home for long weekends, birthdays, weddings, etc, but during the past 15 months I’ve been flying due to the closure of the SH1 Brynderwyn's. What has made my trips possible, besides using my air points, has been Blue Star Car Rentals. I earn Air NZ Air Points if I use the bigger companies but Blue Star offers excellent A+ service, compact Hybrid cars I like to drive, and the most competitive and affordable prices I’ve seen nationally for rental cars. I just keep going back to them. They are there with a big smile to greet you upon your arrival and you just drop the key into the box when you depart. They are simply the best. Highly recommend!

Excellent service everyone was lovely to talk too and they bent over backwards to help us. Could not recommend more. Also highly recommend if in you are based in opua marina as they deliver to you and you can return it to the marina. The car was great as well very fuel efficient. Will definitely be using again.
